It was truly an awesome experience to watch the regional round at Mumbai.
The TATA round was a cake walk for the defending champions of Mumbai Suresh Kumar and Anirudh Datta. I thought either Sandeep Rajpurohit or Govind Grewal will make the champions sweat but the champions were way ahead.
All the happenings was in the Non Tata Track…. What a final round…. Breath taking….(first of all Rajeev Rai could not clear the prelims- that was a shock)
At the end of the penultimate round ICICI Bank and Deustche Bank where leading with 30 points each and there where no clue of any other teams near to them…
There were three questions in the final round with three clues for each question
- 15 points if cracked in first clue and -10 for wrong answer at any point
The first question was asked – when the first clue was in the screen ICICI Bank went for the buzzer and got it wrong .. this brought their points to 20… The next clue came up in the screen and Duestche Bank came up with the answer but got confused themselves and gave the answer as Sanjay Lalbhai when the answer was Kasturibhai Lalbhai.. so this made their points also 20..
Next question even before the first clue blinked O & M pressed the buzzer and gave the answer and this took them to 30 and they led the quiz suddenly from no where…
Then the final question the first clue blinked and IMRB went for it the answer was BEST and they cracked it and this took their points to 30 as well…
Now there was a tie breaker between O & M and IMRB and in the tie breaker IMRB got it right and won the regional round of TATA Crucible Corporate Mumbai Round…

It was sad that both of us could not participate in this edition of Crucibles as we couldnt team up and also couldnt have the luck of participating with a different partner…..
